Like most working artists, I also have a “day job”, so to speak. Unlike most artists, however, that job is the same as my artwork, just done with my client in mind first. I’ve been a self-employed photographer since 2008 and full-time at it since my last foray into the employed world (even then as a graphic artist) came to an end in February 2009. My clients have ranged from local individuals to national magazines, and I’ve worked in fashion, food, editorial, advertising, and just about every genre you can imagine.
My home, however, is portraiture. I love creating images of people in ways they’ve never seen themselves. Where some commercial briefs require a well-executed “pretty picture” (that I am quite happy to provide), individual portraits can embrace a more unusual approach. This is where I thrive.
